Biography

Søren Nørbo started his career in the Copenhagen suburb of Smorum as a student of the late piano legend Duke Jordan.
He studied both jazz and classical piano players during the years among others Thomas Clausen, Butch Lacy and Anne Øland. Graduated from the Rhythmic Academy of Music in 1991 after some years of study at the Musicological Institute of the University of Copenhagen.
Since the age of 20, he has worked both freelance and as leader of his own ensembles, from solo to quartet. As a composer primarily for his own ensembles. Besides touring Søren Nørbo is a recognized teacher at the Rhythmic Music Conservatorium in Copenhagen and at the Academy of Music in Aarhus, Jutland.
Has released 8 CDs in his own name, the last 6 on Søren Nørbo Productions mainly with compositions by he himself, as well as folk music, jazz standards and free improvisations.
Has played in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Italy, Poland, the Faroe Islands, Slovenia, USA and France with among others Joakim Milder, Lee Konitz, Django Bates and his own groups
